Healthy Snacks for Midnight Cravings

Okay, it’s 12:00am. Time to be sleeping, but I’m craving a midnight snack. I really want to grab something sweet and sticky, but I want to be good and choose something tasty and healthy. What are good choices when selecting a healthy snack? Is eating before bedtime totally harmful?

Is eating before bedtime unhealthy?

Reasons for Midnight Cravings
According to various studies, dehydration is one of the main reasons for midnight cravings. As such, it may be helpful to drink a glass of water before eating anything. If you were dehydrated, then you should feel full after drinking the water. If you are still hungry, your midnight craving may be based on one of the other reasons below.
You are bored and can’t go to sleep
• You are hungry because you had an early dinner
• You have low salt or sugar levels
• You have a lack of protein in your body

Great post! I’ve recently turned to popcorn and frozen berries as a midnight snack… making little changes, one at a time, in order to live a healthier lifestyle and be a better example for my little guys! :)
