Perks on Becoming a Kaiser Permanente Member
When you become a Kaiser Permanente member, you have access to several perks. Below are some of my favorites that I like to use on a regular basis.
One Stop Shop
One huge reason that I love Kaiser Permanente is that it’s basically a “one-stop-shop” for all of my health needs. Usually, I can see my primary doctor, get referred to specialists, get lab work done, pick up prescriptions, and go to the emergency at the same facility. If I need to see a specialist that is not at my primary Kaiser Permanente facility, then they are usually located very close at a neighboring Kaiser Permanente location. And since Kaiser Permanente is part of an Integrated System, any Kaiser Permanente doctor I go to will be able to give me accurate medical advice based on my previous medical history and current health conditions.
Sometimes the medical advice as a member myself requires only a phone appointment with my doctor. To schedule a phone appointment, all I need to do is call Member Services and speak with an advice nurse. After a series of quick questions related to my current health condition or concern, she will either give me the answers I need or schedule a time for my doctor to call me. So convenient! Opting for a phone appointment saves time, money, gas, and most importantly… my schedule!
Emailing My Doctor
Kaiser Permanente members have the option of setting up their personal account information to manage their membership. Within these profiles, Kaiser Permanente members can email their doctors, order prescriptions, read about Kaiser Permanente’s latest health advice and find facility locations and phone numbers. When emailing my primary care physician, the system lets me know that I will receive a reply within 48 hours. However in my experience, I’ve gotten responses from my doctor in less than three hours. Again, very convenient!
Kaiser Permanente offers a variety of classes at their facilities. These classes usually have to do with aspects of a healthy lifestyle, like developing a healthy diet, managing lifestyle changes, overcoming sleep disorders, etc. Usually, Kaiser Permanente member classes are free. The last time I attended a class, I was happy to find the teacher very enthusiastic about what she was sharing. She made time for questions and even stayed after class to discuss other personal concerns.
I like Kaiser Permanente because I can get these and other many complimentary perks as part of my membership. It’s almost like going on a cruise on which I can freely access meals and entertainment.
