Do my employees or I need to pass medical underwriting or get a physical?
No. Medical underwriting is not required and physicals are unnecessary for Kaiser Permanente applications for groups in California. As long as your business qualifies for group enrollment, your coverage will be issued automatically without medical underwriting or concern for pre-existing health conditions.
What is meant by guaranteed acceptance?
As long as your business qualifies for group health insurance coverage, you will be enrolled automatically once the necessary paperwork has gone through underwriting. You will not be denied for pre-existing health conditions. To qualify as a group, employees must work at least 20 hours a week and be paid on W-2's. Exceptions apply for partners, owners, and corporate officers.
What is the deadline to apply?
Technically, the deadline to submit the New Group Application is the 1st of the month. All other paperwork must be in by the 5th of the month. However, we recommend getting paperwork in a week or two prior to the 1st of the month so as to avoid processing delays and finalize your enrollment before the effective date of your policy.
Can I enroll in the middle of the month?
Your coverage will begin the 1st of the month after your enrollment materials are submitted. You may complete and send in your application materials in the middle of the month, but your coverage will not begin until the first of the next month.
What paperwork do you require?
